With colors ranging from pale blues to aquas to sea greens, Peruvian opal could be called the "Andean aquamarine."
Copper is the essential trace element causing its distinctive range of soft blue-green colors.
Peruvian opal often contains inclusions, which can be quite scenic. These inclusions can display varying degrees of color -- and they can also be dendritic, with black fern like inclusions which add additional interest.
